What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural state of mind we experience everyday. It is that relaxing state that we feel first thing in the morning, and a few minutes before we fall asleep at night. Hypnosis even happens throughout the day as we “zone out” or daydream. In therapy, it is this calm mood that allows conversation with the subconscious mind so that the changes we wish to make HAPPEN!

What is Hypnosis Like?
Hypnosis is a relaxed, natural state, like a spa day for your mind; it is a break from the cognitive, conscious thinking we do when we are awake and interacting with our world. Think of hypnosis as a release from stress and a quick escape from reality.
Our mind naturally does this throughout the day. For example, during a normal, busy day at work, the mind is occupied with challenges and is expected to perform, but when you take a few seconds to “zone out” or daydream, you are actually in hypnosis. It’s your mind’s way of dealing with stress and creating a hopeful and positive scenario. Of course, if someone interrupts you or says your name, you quickly bounce back up to the cognitive level and can perform and interact quickly.
Hypnosis is a lot like a daydream – or more like a relaxing and meditative journey. You are fully aware of what is going on and have total control of your mind and body. In a hypnotherapy session, you will not be asked or expected to do unusual things; we are not stage hypnotists, and there will be no barking like a dog! Instead, you can expect a safe space to talk about your struggles, and together we will create a positive hypnotic session that results in you feeling better and achieving greater success.
While in hypnosis, some people report feeling relaxed and heavy, sinking comfortably into their chairs. Others report feeling much lighter, almost like they’re floating. Regardless of how hypnosis makes you feel, amazing work can be done while in this state. It is an opportunity for the subconscious mind to vent out stress, pain, anxiety, shame, and even grief, and it’s a powerful tool to help you let go of what’s holding you back. During a session, expect to be in a state of unconditional positive regard, connecting to your deepest, wisest self. It is a profound opportunity for you to change any self-limiting beliefs, and invest in a new, upgraded mindset where the possibilities become realities.
